The We Are Developers Congress 2018 took place in the Austria Center Vienna from the 16th to the 18th of May. With more than 8000 attendees and more than 250 talks it is one of the biggest conferences I‘ve ever visited.
Speaker like Steve Wozniak, Joel Spolsky, John Romero, Angie Jones, Igor Grigorik and lots of other well- and lesser-knowns talk about a lot of different technology-related topics, like performance, frameworks, programming languages, testing, security,… Sometimes it was really hard to choose which talk to join as there are lots of sessions in parallel, but here are my sketchnotes of the talks I attended:
Fireside chat with Steve Wozniak
Vue and Vuex
Distributed commerce: taking APIs to the next level
The (bright) future of the web
The era of quantum computing is here
Doom‘s development: a year of madness
Giving developers the rockstar treatment
Successful, accomplished, depressed – a talk about performance, perfection and burnout in IT
Application health checks done the right way
Rendering performance
Web components architecture and patterns
The php journey: to php7 and beyond
A 200-year-old company inside out: how we implement security in our software development
End to end testing in the future
The reality of testing an artificial world
Would you like to be a supertester
Code reviews – establishing a quality culture
Spot the difference – automating visual regression testing
Joel on software
Please let me know if you need the sketchnotes in a higher resolution. Also I‘m open for feedback and comments on the talks.
Your sketchnotes are just amazing! How do you create these, just straight drawing in a graphics editor or with some magic software to nicely align the text?
Thank you, Klaus. I use an iPad and the Apple Pencil. The app I use is called Sketches 2, by Tayasui. It provides different brushes and colours, but I just draw on the iPad straightly – no aligning or so..
